The day after the tiny house (which I will now refer to as the cottage) my Dad started on the flooring. He went out and bought a floor sealer and paint combo in a light grey color. Not only does the 2 in 1 sealer/paint save time, it saves money as well. Win win!
Dad started doing the first coat on the back part of the cottage while I was at work. I came home and saw this:
So today I started painting some more of the floor. This is what it looks like now:
I actually painted a bit more, but I forgot to take another picture. There is a small patch of flooring that needs it’s first coat before we move on to the next step!
Big news everyone! Chloe’ Mae’s Cottage is officially here! Two years into the making (and this blog) and my home is here (and the blog title makes sense)! The cottage arrived Friday morning and it is even more amazing in person!
It was exciting to look down the highway and see the house off in the distant. When I was watching the house come towards it’s little spot I could only grin and try not to jump up and down. It’s my house! My cottage!
After having the house set up my family and I walked around inside for the first time. Dad immediately started talking about where the kitchen will go, how big the bathroom can be, and where to build the couch/daybed he’s going to make. Mum had many good ideas for the bathroom and kitchen, as well as having some cute decorative ideas for the house. I picked my bedroom loft out (I have two lofts) and which loft will be used to hold my sewing things and the like.
There is going to be a lot of work before I’m able to move in, but in the end it’ll be worth it. I’m excited for this change in life and can’t wait to share every minute of it with all of you.
Until next time friends!
My Mum is amazing you guys, I mean seriously! With getting the tiny house and prepping for it and all she came up with the best idea for tiny kitchen organization! My Mum loves the Harney & Sons teas (as do I!) and they come in these little metal tins. Mum gave me two tins and told me to save them to fix up and use as kitchen storage.
Now I’m not the most creative at times so while Mum was seeing adorable little storage tins, all I could see was this:
I kept them and collected the others she had given me. I still had no idea what to do with them! One day when I was at my Mum and Dad’s, she gave me an idea for them. With her idea in mind I went to the store to buy some good metal spray paint.
I picked a light teal color for the first three tins. I sprayed the lids and the tins with the spray paint:
Afterwards Mum gave me some chalkboard labels that I put on the tins:
Voila! Adorable little storage tins with cute little labels! I love the way they turned out! I will definitely come back to Mum for more storage and DIY ideas! Thanks Mum!
Not only is my Mum good at giving me ideas, she also has a blog! If you want to go look at her blog and see what other DIY’s, recipes, and decorating she has done over the years click here.
I love the idea of reusing items and making my own decorating and storage things for my house. It will help give my home the look I want it to and will seem more me.
I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer! What are some of your little projects you’re working on? I would love to find out! (:
